Nymdesign is a boutique design studio specializing in branding, digital/UX, and print/books. With a rich history spanning 23 years, the studio has collaborated with prestigious organizations like the United Nations, Amnesty International, and Microsoft, as well as esteemed educational institutions such as Yale, Stanford, and Harvard Universities. Nymdesign’s portfolio also includes work with cultural programs, designing for institutions like the Museum of the City of New York, British Art Center, and Museum of Chinese in America.
Founded in Brooklyn and now based in the greater Boston/Cambridge area, Nymdesign is led by Principal & Creative Director Nilou Moochhala. With a background that includes roles at Sotheby’s, The New Museum, and the Smithsonian Institution, Moochhala brings a wealth of experience to the studio. Her educational journey includes a Master of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from Yale University School of Art and ongoing studies in UX at Bentley University’s User Experience Program.
Nilou Moochhala’s dedication to design education is evident through her adjunct professorship at SUNY Purchase and role as a visiting critic at the Maryland Institute of Contemporary Art. As a member of AIGA Boston and a design critic for their Annual Student Portfolio Review, Moochhala continues to contribute to the design community. Her work has been recognized by grants from organizations like the Massachusetts Cultural Council and New England Foundation for the Arts, and featured in publications such as the Boston Globe, WBUR, and Print.
